Alan Caldwell

I am passionate about community, climate and a green recovery. I am a board member of the Perth City Leadership Forum and keen to help Perth become the most sustainable small city in Europe.

I have over 30 years experience working in Scotland and across Europe in the fields of regeneration, social enterprise, sustainability and climate change. Prior to establishing my consultancy in 2000, I founded and ran a national rural regeneration charity for 6 years. I have established over 70 Community Development Trusts, published best practice guides for organisations ranging including the Development Trust Association to the Rowntree Foundation and delivered over 300 successful events from workshops to national conferences.

Between 2014 and 2020 I held a directorship at a national Development and Regeneration Company delivering innovative, mixed use development projects in urban and market town locations across the UK. I have a detailed knowledge and understanding of the investment, partnership and development processes required to make more sustainable places.

I was a founding director of the Comrie Development Trust and remained on the board for 10 years, successfully steering the community buyout of Cultybraggan Camp. I organise Comrie Conversations launched in 2013 to discuss issues of importance for the future of Scotland.
