Enterprise and Prosperity Working Group

The Enterprise and Prosperity working group meets once a month under the leadership of Iain Hutchison. Its aim is to nurture sustainable, significant growth of enterprise and prosperity in Perth and to promote the area as the must-have-address for sustainability in UK.

Beyond this, there are aspirations to reach upper decile employment, better highlight Perth's unrivalled quality of life, and to encourage high occupancy rates amongst large business premises.

Project Groups

Skills & Youth – Steve Petrie

The project will take on a Nashville skills academy type approach to allow collaboration between business, education and youth to provide a skilled, valuable workforce.

Rural Perthshire – Jackie Brierton

Rural Perthshire presents one of Perth’s greatest opportunities as communications enters a new age with 5G and satellite. It is anticipated that the rural workforce could exceed the value generated by the city. It is the aim of the group to encourage people to focus on the overall regional goal and to provide a networking centre that offers cohesion, focus and support.

Promotion - Could you be this group lead?

Ensuring media coverage and digital PR via cross co-ordination with other PLCF workgroups and partners entities such as Chamber of Commerce, Business Gateway, Invest in Perth, and Perth Business Network, to leverage resources and avoid duplication. We work closely with the Ambassador network and invite ll members to share information and promote the attributes of Perth.

Infrastructure & Support – Could you be this group lead?

Give businesses a reason to locate to Perth with networking hub for peer to peer. Scotland’s perfect centre for rural business collaboration. Combine with third sector to promote inclusion. Timely advice to those on a high growth journey provides resilience and assists continued sustainable success.

Geothermal pilot heating project – Could you be this group lead?

Decarbonise heat (60% of UK energy use) via subterranean heat (>4000 feet depth). Huge. Cross workgroup collaboration, leverage Perth’s world leading drilling skillset.
